446. WE-Heraeus-Seminar

Scope

In the past few years optical methods for non-invasive imaging and detection of human brain function have seen rapid progress, in particular due to their ability to provide painless and harmless measurements with high temporal resolution and intrinsic functional contrast. Established techniques such as near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and imaging (NIRI) now benefit from enhanced spatial resolution brought by parallelized emission and detection and novel data analysis approaches. On the other hand, the introduction of wireless instruments has opened the door to many new clinical applications, and new techniques such as diffusing-wave spectroscopy (DWS) allow to access functional blood flow changes.

This workshop is focused on the interdisciplinary discussion of recent developments in optical imaging of human brain function, bringing together scientists and engineers with users from medicine and psychology.

The workshop will consist of invited talks, a small number of contributed talks and a poster session which will be open during the 3 days of the workshop. We particularly encourage contributions from PhD students and postdoctoral researchers working in biomedical optics, physics and related fields.

Location

The workshop takes place in the Physik-Zentrum in Bad Honnef, Germany.

Contributed Talks and Posters

We encourage contributions particularly from PhD students and postdoctoral researchers working in the field. If you are interested in attending the workshop, please contact the Scientific Organizers by e-mail.

Please be aware that the number of participants is limited to 60 due to the limited housing in the Physik-Zentrum. Applications will be selected in the order of their date of submission.
