Photonics21 Student Innovation Award 2009 - Application
Apply now for the Photonics21 student innovation award 2009 if your work is industry related R&D work and mainly individual effort in pure or applied optics and photonics. Closing date: 31st of March, 2009 @23:59 GMT
The Working Group 7 - Photonics Research Education and Training - of the Photonics21 Technology Platform have established a prize for students in the field of photonics in order to promote research in photonics especially related to R&D with industrial impact.
The conditions for eligibility are:
- The work has potential for application in industry
- The work is innovative
- The work is performed mainly individually
- The work is performed in Europe and within the framework of an EC education programme or a regular course of studies at a European university.
- The work has not been awarded before by another prize committee.
- The recipient is under the age of 35 at the submission date
- The work submitted is written in English
The award consists of a certificate, a cash Prize of € 5,000 and a complimentary ticket for the World of Photonics Congress.
The first prize will be awarded at the opening session of the Laser 2009 and the World of Photonics Congress in Munich on June 15, 2009.
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- The completed application form,
- One letter of support (by a supervisor or mentor),
- A short (2 page) biography/CV,
- A list of peer reviewed publications,
- A description of the innovative R&D work (not exceeding 4 pages of A4, 12 point text) making clear the
o Nature of innovation
o Potential impact to industry
The documents must be received by the Photonics21 Secretariat (secretariat@photonics21.org ) by the closing date of 31st of March, 2009 @23:59 GMT
