Prof. Dr. Herbert Gross
With industry experience of more than 30 years in leading positions at CARL ZEISS and a professorship, Herbert Gross is an internationally renown expert in the field of optical systems design. His research deals with optical systems, their design, modelling, simulation and performance evaluation as well as metrology and realization aspects. Prof. Gross is head of a research group at the university and has many collaborations with companies and institutes. He is main author and editor of the »Handbook of Optical Systems«. He holds several patents and is author of more than 90 scientific papers in the field. Due to the practical approach of his research and teaching, he passionately holds seminars and courses for professionals in the field of optical design, besides his lectures at Friedrich Schiller University of Jena.
Dr. Dennis Ochse
Dennis Ochse is one of the leading optical designers at JENOPTIK Optical Systems in the field of freeform systems. He gained experience in many industry projects, including scan systems, microscopes, cameras and anamorphic imaging optics, but also in public projects on freeform optics in close cooperation with research institutes. His main interests in optical design are aberration theory and system correction. Before he started his career in optical design, he studied mathematics in Marburg and Kaiserslautern where he graduated with PhD in geometry.
Yueqian Zhang is working in the Optical System Design Group at the Institute of Applied Physics of Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. His major interests in optical design are microscopic objective design, optical system tolerance and aberration theory. He also achieved much experience from industry projects, including industrial machine vision cameras, 3D-measurement systems and ophthalmic cameras. He finished his undergraduate study in Optical Engineering at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. Then he received his Master degree in Photonics from Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena.
